THE EFFECT OF INDECENT DRESSING ON THE SOCIETY

INTRODUCTION:
  First of all I want to thank God for his grace and wisdom upon my life to continually fulfill His plans for my life on earth and to finish the assignment He called me for. I want you to know that whatsoever has brought you or magnetized your attention to this page is the spirit around you that want to save your soul from damnation. But it is my prayer for you not to make a clean breast of or accept the decision of the devil of how invaluable this information will be to you, because that spirit is there to destroy you.

Please I will be making some references to the HOLY BIBLE. So therefore, for the purpose of proper understanding, it’s highly recommended that you have your Bible handy so that you can cross check it by yourself. We shall be looking at the following: The meaning of dressing, why do we put on clothes? How can we dress to suit the purpose? How our dressing affect the society and many others.

Before we progress, permit me to use this great opportunity to appreciate and congratulate you that is reading this article right now, I want to assure you that the knowledge you are about to originate from this information will definitely haul the divine wisdom upon your life through Christ our Lord Amen.

THE MEANING OF dressing
Before we establish any fact, we need to explore what exactly is the meaning of dressing. other words for DRESSING are vinaigrette, Covering etc.

WHY DO WE PUT ON CLOTHES?

 In 2008, a bill was presented on indecent dressing on the floor of The Senate, titled, “An Act to Prohibit and Punish Public Nudity, Sexual Intimidation, and Related Offences.” The bill proposed a jail term of six months for offenders. But majority were against it.
Reacting to the said bill, hear what a young undergraduate said:
“We are living in a free world and so, we are free to wear anything we want. Besides, since you don’t buy the clothes for me, who are you to tell me what to wear? I wear what makes me comfortable. As a young girl, I follow fashion trend, I wear the best in vogue and if it accentuates some parts of my body, and my boyfriend likes it, I don’t see anything wrong in it.”
In the above reaction, you could discover that she put on clothes just to follow fashion trend and to please her boyfriend. When the foremost purpose of dressing is being despoiled, indecent dressing becomes inevitable and insurmountable in our society. As I earlier said, we are going to search the Bible to expose the precision and legitimacy concerning this issue.
In the Book of Genesis Chapter 3, in verse 21, the Lord God was making for Adam and for his wife garments of skin, and clothed them in order to cover their nakedness they discovered in verse 7 after eating the fruit, and this make it clear that we suppose to put on clothes in order to cover our nakedness.

It’s certain that when a man did not have time to study the word of God, he spend that time being a slave to the devil, even at the Expends of his eternal life, knowingly or unknowingly. The rate at which the people of this world especially the youths embrace the worldly activities has passed the Rubicon. Because, the devil has strategically presented it as fashion, so therefore, people welcome it and forget that anything that is contrary or against the universal principles should not be given attention. If you call yourself a Christian, always ask yourself this questions, the way I dress now, does it please my God? Or does it serve the key purpose of dressing? Answer it and be sincere to yourself.

ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY:
Entertainment industry has become the room for immorality which supposes not to be so.

GOVERNEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
When it comes to the issue of indecent dressing, Government have vital role to play, though people see indecent dressing as the issue that has to do with the people involved only. The issue of rape and sexual immorality can never be properly nursed in our society if the Government continues to neglect or overlook this deleterious practice “indecent dressing” The National Assembly must enact a law that will regulate dressing in the society. I like what some schools like University of Abuja and Nasarawa State University, Keffi are doing on indecent dressing. Government must ban unscrupulous music videos and films, while parents must discourage their children from such dressings. In the same vein, teachers must discourage this madness.

RELIGIOUS LEADERS’ RESPONSIBILITY:

What I want some of our religious leaders to understand is that; the word “CHURCH” does not necessarily referred to a building. the word church is from the Greek word ECCLESIA which is interpreted; the call out ones. So, the fact that you build a house and call it a church does not mean God is there, no matter how beautiful it is. God can only come there when people that always gather in that building have Christ dwelling in them.

It is only in Old Testament that people were building temple for God, but now, God is no longer dwelling in the temple that is made with human’s hands. However, our body is now the dwelling place of God (Romans 8:8).
This is to say, as a spiritual leader, you must deliberately, make it obligatory to all believers that God has entrusted under your leadership, to consciously abstain from what is known to be sin unto God both inside and outside the Church. Example, some Churches disallow women putting on trousers into the church, but it’s being permitted outside the Church.  By saying that, I’m not against or supporting women putting on trousers. But the point I’m driving to is, every peccadillo/sin must be evaded and totally despised both inside and especially outside the Church. Because, unbelievers seeing you (A Christian) behaving and doing things the same way like them (unbelievers), they will never accept or commemorate the fact that there are differences between being a born again Christian and unbeliever. So let follow what Colossians 4:5 says and God will bless you as you keep His word. Amen.

HOW OUR DRESSING AFFECT THE SOCIETY AND MANY OTHERS:

 There is way a man body reacts to woman especially when parts of her body are being exposed. If you trace it very well, you will notice that 85% of rape cases are caused by indecent dressing. Before I move on, let me tell you a brief story.
While I was in Technical School, by then I was not yet a Christian despite the fact that I have been going to Church all my life, which means I was not yet born again. One faithful Sunday, I and some of my friends were invited to one of the well known Churches in Nigeria; maybe that day could have been the day God wanted me to become a Christian, but as soon as the Pastor walked in with his wife into the Church, I was totally destabilized emotionally right where I was sitting because of the appearance of the Pastor’s wife. Not because she was putting on trouser but the dress was so tight especially the trouser that all the attractive parts of her body became so pronounce and were calling my name (I believe you understand that). I could not concentrate any more for the rest parts of the service, because I was imagining two of us in a room. Even when I got home my body was still vibrating because a lot of girls in that Church that day were not just looking beautiful but sexy. And I’m sure I was not the only one who experience such, which means, so many youths that were in that Church were enticed by that alone.
Lacking in self-confidence is what makes our young people to do anything to draw attention to their selves and wearing indecent clothes could be their way of doing that. They forget that for every action, there is a reaction; and that is why we have series of cases like rape. Most young women have fallen victims to rape because of the provocative dresses they put on. I believe that, indecent dressing debases womanhood because it tends to expose parts of the woman’s body that forms her treasure. The pride of women lies in hidden and protected treasure; but when a girl exposes it to the public, it reduces her worth in the sight of everyone in society and it makes the man to lose respect in her; there won’t be anything left for the man to explore. Any man that will come after her will only be doing so out of lust, and just to devour what she has displayed for him. In other hand, it demeans the integrity of a man. It makes him look nuisance and irresponsible in the society. “Even if you are decent but decide to wear indecent clothes, people will insult you,”
Married men
Many marriages have been broken relationships scatter as the result of this ugly lifestyle. Many married men feel they’ve made a serious mistake getting married at all especially when they see these halve naked girls on the streets

CONCLUSION:
I think it is low self-esteem that is making young people especially girls to dress indecently. It makes them believe that they have to do something, sometimes improper to be noticed; this is to fill emptiness in their lives. They are not contented with their abilities and beauty.
These young girls see other ladies dressing that way and because men chase after such girls, the girl with very low self-esteem will want to join them to get the same attention. One thing about indecent dressing is that it attracts attention; whether it is a negative or positive one, the bottom line is that it attracts attention. People must stare and automatically, such a person is noticed. So, when a girl who feels insecure wants to be noticed, she resorts to indecent dressing. Indecent dressing portrays our society and institution as immoral; if it’s in the church, it portrays the pastor as weak and not spiritually sound. Parents and adults must dress well and honourably as an example for younger generations. The mass media should promote good moral values and religious leaders must strongly preach against indecent dressing because you will be addressed by the way you are dressed.
Young people must know that indecent dressing do not improve their beauty; rather, they dent their image and it also symbolises rebellion and immorality, ending in molestation. Please note; as a young Girl, the way you dress determine the kind of people that you are going to be attractive to. So, if you have habitually engaged in indecent dressing, you will only be attractive to men who lust over you, which means, they just want to have sex with you not that they want to marry you or they even love you in the first place. But God have a unique destiny for you, why will you trivialize this fact just because of the vanities of this world? Why not do things that will attract the Holy Spirit into your life than trying to please men.
